August-September 2016: Great time with Xoaquín during a second visit to Spain, and a great experience in Netherlands for a "tri-trophic interactions" workshop with old and new friends.
April 2016: Finished collecting and analyzing data from a new experiment testing for spatial variation in the ecological and evolutionary outcomes of tri-trophic interactions associated with the short-lived, invincible (and spoiled) perennial herb Ruellia nudiflora.
March 2016: Visited Xoaquín Moreira at the Misión Biológica de Galicia, in Spain. Great time with great friends, and presented a seminar on tree diversity effects on insect herbivores, predatory arthropods, and insectivorous birds at the UADY experimental plantation.
December 2015: Maybeth Mendoza, a new master's student, just joined the lab. She is measuring tree growth at the UADY forest plantation and will evaluate the effects of tree diversity on tree growth and biomass.
September 2015: The UADY tree diversity experiment (Yucatán, México) just joined TreeDivNet, a world-wide network of tree diversity experiments! Check out the following link: http://www.treedivnet.ugent.be/ExpUADY.html.
August 2015: Colleen Nell from UC-Irvine visited us for a three-week period to collect data on bird abundance, species richness, and predation rates at the forest diversity experiment. We now have a great start at understanding the effects of tree diversity on the bird community and bird-arthropod interactions!
